As part of my final year major project, I was set the task of creating a magazine with 24 pages of content which would showcase both my journalistic and design skills. I wanted my magazine to centre around sport, before narrowing this down further to a mag that would cover a range of sport at the University of Glamorgan. After conducting some wide-scale research, I began to set-up interviews in order to compile the content of my magazine before designing.
This project has enhanced my design skills, as well as allowing me to hone in on my feature writing, which, alongside other modules across my three years at Glamorgan, has left me in a position where I am confident with my own writing ability. The project has also allowed me to focus the sports side of journalism - an area I would like to one day work in.
I used this print module as an opportunity to widen my knowledge of a range of sports that I was a little shaky on, such as water polo, volleyball, badminton, etc. It would have bee easy to just stick a load of football and rugby features in my magazine, but it was my intention to cover a nice range of sports.
